Because of the symptom hiding nature of ornamental birds, instrumental diagnostic methods and laboratory testing are essential in diagnosing their illnesses. At our clinic we have a modern digital x-ray machine available, and our laboratory tests are carried out by trusted partners. We frequently perform endoscopic examinations in ornamental birds. The small, rigid endoscope can be used for gender determination, for respiratory and gastrointestinal examinations and sampling. The endoscopic examination of the air sacs and thoracoabdominal cavity of birds can help us identify many illnesses, it is indispensable in diagnosing Aspergillosis, and with its help we can take soft tissue biopsies from internal organs. Endoscopy can be used for therapeutic purposes as well, like removal of foreign bodies from the gastrointestinal tract or fungal growths from the air sacs.
